Digital signage for clinics: waiting-room screen ideas that actually help patients
A waiting room is a captive audience. Done well, a screen makes the wait feel shorter, answers common questions before they reach reception and introduces services patients did not know you offered. Here is what to show, what to avoid, and how to run it.
What to show on a clinic screen
- Doctor and consultation timings. Who is in today, which room, and when. Update it when a schedule changes instead of reprinting a sheet.
- Service menu and packages. Health check packages, vaccinations, dental whitening, physiotherapy plans, with clear prices if you publish them.
- Health tips and seasonal advice. Hydration in summer, monsoon precautions, flu-shot reminders. Short, visual and friendly.
- Process information. How to register, which documents to bring, how reports are collected, payment options.
- Announcements. Holiday closures, new doctors, new equipment, camp days.
- Calm content. Gentle visuals between messages keep the screen from feeling like an advert loop.
Privacy: what not to put on screen
Do not display patient names, diagnoses, phone numbers or any information that identifies a patient. If you call patients by token number, make sure the number is not linked to anything else on screen. Treat the screen as a public notice board: show only what you would be comfortable having read by anyone in the room.
Set the tone
Healthcare screens work best when they are quiet: soft colours, large readable type, no flashing transitions and no sound. Keep each slide on screen long enough to read, usually 8 to 12 seconds, and keep the loop short so patients do not see the same slide repeatedly.
Schedule by day and time
Different content suits different times. Show morning OPD timings early, switch to evening clinic information later, and run a weekend campaign for Saturday camps. In DigitalWall each campaign has its own dates, time window and days of the week, so the right slides appear without anyone touching the screen.
Set-up checklist
- Choose where the screen goes: visible from the seating area and not directly behind the reception desk.
- Use a TV with a web browser or add a Fire Stick or Android box.
- Open the player, note the pairing code and add the screen in the console.
- Create three to six slides, group them into a campaign and assign it to the screen.
- Review the content monthly so timings and offers stay accurate.
Cost
DigitalWall is ₹99 per screen per month in India after a free 7-day trial, so a clinic with one waiting-room screen pays ₹1,188 a year for the software. Hardware is a one-time purchase; see our cost breakdown for planning figures.
